37 more New Jersey filings in the last 90 days. Subscribers see them all, with name and address. Many include a phone number. In New Jersey the email also carries closings and sales and who was at an address before, from records back to 2016.
No phone on a filing yet? That usually means you're early. A new filing is often a place that hasn't opened, so there's no listing to call. You get the name and the address now, and we keep looking for a phone for a month and add it when one turns up.
Use the ABC's lookup at njoag.gov to check one license by name, number or address. This page lists what's new, from the same record.
Every row here is a public record New Jersey publishes. We check each state's rules before we carry it and leave out any that restrict commercial use of licensee lists; so far that's only Kansas. About the data.
The New Jersey record this page reads lists licenses once they're issued, not applications while they're pending; New Jersey publishes it at njoag.gov. A newly issued license is the public sign of a place about to open. This page reads that record as often as New Jersey updates it and lists the new licenses by county, city and license type, each linked back to the record.
Can I get an alert when a new bar or restaurant shows up in New Jersey?
Yes. The free Watch email sends each week's New Jersey list on Monday: city, license type, status and date, without business names. A New Jersey subscription, $79 a month, sends every new filing the morning after it appears, with the business name and address, and for new bars and restaurants a phone number or website looked up online where the state prints none. A CSV, an API and webhooks come with every plan.
How often does the New Jersey page update?
The New Jersey source refreshes about once a month, and this page is rebuilt from it on that schedule.
Where does the New Jersey data come from?
Every row is read from njoag.gov, the public record New Jersey itself publishes, and links back to it. Nothing here comes from a reseller or a news report.
What does the free New Jersey sample contain?
Every New Jersey filing from one full week a few weeks back, in the layout a subscriber gets: business, address, license type, status, the date filed, and a phone or website where we found one. The link to each state record is left blank; subscribers get it. It downloads ready for HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, AgencyZoom or Repsly.
What do the license types mean?
The types you will see most on the New Jersey page. Bar or restaurant, full license (33): The bar and restaurant license; capped at one per 3,000 residents, so a new holder is a transfer or a rare new issue. Liquor store (44): A package store; one per 7,500 residents. Private club, members only (31): Lodges and veterans' posts; members and their guests only. Bar with a package-store section (32): An older license that lets a bar run a separate liquor-store area; no longer issued new, so this is a transfer. Hotel bar, 100 or more rooms (36): A hotel's bar and restaurant license, issued outside the population cap. Every row shows the type by its plain name; the i beside it opens the state's own wording.
What is left out?
One-day and temporary permits (weddings, festival booths, charity auctions, tastings), and licenses nobody sells to: wholesalers, suppliers, importers, shippers, carriers, and employee or manager permits. Breweries, wineries and distilleries stay in. The first time we read a state we also treat everything it already listed as the starting point, not as new filings.
